Philippine Consulate General in Osaka Conducts a Seminar and Free Consultation Services on Japanese Civil Laws

18 March 2013, OSAKA – The Philippine Consulate General in Osaka successfully conducted a seminar on Japanese civil laws for Filipino nationals residing in Western Japan. The activity was organized in collaboration with Osaka Foundation of International Exchange (OFIX) and Samahan sa Kitano International Community, a Filipino community organization based in Osaka City.The two-part seminar was held on 17 February and 10 March 2013.  The first seminar tackled Japanese laws pertaining to birth, citizenship, marriage, divorce, property relations and inheritance. The second seminar dealt with matters relating to welfare services to foreign nationals (including information about assistance to victims of domestic violence) and Japanese labor laws.
  

The last phase of the 3-day activity was the holding of free consultation services on 17 March 2013.  Filipino nationals were given the opportunity to consult with seven professional consultants comprising of lawyers, immigration consultants, and labor consultant who provided specific advice on their concerns.

This is the first time that Osaka PCG conducted a seminar on Japanese civil laws. Many Filipino nationals expressed appreciation for the holding of the seminars and free consultations. The seminar presentations are accessible online (www.osakapcg.com) for the benefit of those who were unable to attend the seminars.
